 The Hartley Kayaks feature plywood over timber frames, these boats are assembled upside down on a building jig. The roomy cockpit is trimmed with a breakwater and provides the option of adding one or two seats. Plans also allow for canvas covering if the builder desires, although the designer recommends plywood kayaks.
Flexibility of cockpit design choices are offered. The size and shape of the cockpit may be altered to suit individual requirements. For convenience and economy in building , each kayak is 4" shorter than the actual 14-16, length. This allows the builder to save on the cost of plywood sheets. Plans include full size drawings of stem, stern, and frames. Illustrations on paddle construction are also included. Design No. C 37.
